The New York State Education Department produces a number of publications where formatting is essential to the accuracy of the document. In order for you to read these documents accurately without massive reformatting efforts on our part, we have decided to make them available in PDF format. The PDF format is modeled after the PostScript language and is device and resolution independent.
A PDF (Portable Document Format) file can describe documents containing any combination of text, graphics, images and color in a format that doesn't depend on the computer or the software you're using. Forms and publications in the PDF format can be viewed, navigated and printed from a workstation using Acrobat Reader software from Adobe Systems Inc. Versions of Acrobat Reader run on DOS, Windows, Macintosh, Unix systems. Free copies of the Acrobat Reader 3.0 may be obtained from Adobe via the Internet. Click here to obtain your free copy of Adobe's Acrobat Reader.
To print a PDF document, click on the printer icon that appears on the Adobe tool bar after you have opened the file. Then click once on the dialog box on the left side of "Shrink to fit", and make sure that the Print Range selection indicates "All pages". Once you have completed this process, you are ready to print. Please note that a PDF file may take more time to print than a text document.
